Holiday storytime

15/07/2008 8:24:00 AM
The Stawell Library was buzzing with activity over the school holidays, with Storytime the big hit among children and their parents.

The half hour Storytime sessions are popular throughout the year, but during the holidays, numbers at the sessions increased.

Library manager, Kerry Wilson said school aged children enjoyed visiting the library with their parents and younger siblings.

``We have our regulars who come every week either on a Thursday or Friday morning, but over the holidays we've had a lot of their brothers and sisters coming as well. It's been quite busy,'' she said.

Busy it was. Some Storytime sessions saw as many as 20 children visit the library to hear a story and take part in a related activity.

Combine this with mums, dads and grandparents and the library was an exciting place for all ages. Ms Wilson said that parents enjoyed the sessions almost as much as the kids.

``The kids are really good. They will listen to a story and then we will make something which is relevant to the story we have read,'' she said.

``The parents enjoy coming as well and they really get into the story telling.''

`Storytime' at the Stawell Library runs every Thursday and Friday morning, between 10.30am and 11.00am.
