Grampians Model Railroaders were thrilled with the support from the public for the tenth annual Model Rail Exhibition.
There was a steady stream of foot traffic around the SES Drill Hall both Saturday and Sunday as enthusiasts took the opportunity to look over the wide range of displays.
More than 20 layouts filled the hall, along with new and secondhand dealers offering models, paint and all the accessories required to become involved in the hobby.
Various scales were on show and enthusiasts also had the opportunity to view model cars and model spacecraft. As an added incentive to take particular note to detail, every patron had the opportunity to vote for their favourite display.
Colin Konig's display Powelltown was actually voted by the public as the most popular layout of the show.
Committee member David Burkhill said everything went well during the weekend and there were no negatives to come out of it.
``That's certainly what we want to hear. Everyone really enjoyed themselves over the whole weekend,'' he said.
``We had a very good crowd and a good cross section of enthusiasts as well. They came from Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo and South Australia and that was very pleasing.
``It was also pleasing that a couple of ideas that came out of last year's show worked again for us this year and drew favourable comments.''
Mr Burkhill said the committee had not yet sat down to go through exact numbers, but by all indications, the crowd was up on last year.
Being the 10th anniversary of the exhibition, a number of regulars and some enthusiasts who attended the first show, returned for the occasion.
There was also a photographic display set up for viewing by the public, featuring layouts that had attended over the past 10 years.
Mr Burkhill said this, combined with the impressive set up of the layouts, ensured people stayed in the hall for longer.
