Stawell Intertwine Services, Stawell Regional Health and Stawell Drycleaners have joined forces in a new three-way partnership to provides services for the MacPherson Smith Nursing Home.
The partnership, which commenced on June 30, will see all personal linen items for residents of the home, cleaned and prepared for return at Stawell Drycleaners.
Intertwine's Kathryn Clayton, Manager State Plan, said it was a fantastic result for the parties involved, who will all gain considerably out of the move.
``Intertwine is focused upon community inclusion and this project has enabled valued roles for supported employees at the dry cleaners and an opportunity for one gentleman (Gordon) to have open employment,'' Ms Clayton said.
Ms Clayton said both Gordon, who has been in supported employment with Intertwine since 2006, and Intertwine were both very proud of the achievement.
``Having Andrew Bach, owner and manager of Stawell Drycleaners, with his experience and commitment to the disability field is fantastic,'' Ms Clayton said.
``This partnership leads the way for what we hope will be the beginning of inclusion opportunities for many people with disabilities in our shopping precinct.
``Peter Edwards, Chief Executive Officer of Stawell Regional Health and Stuart Kerr Director of Support Services have placed an emphasis upon wanting people with disability to have benefits from this contract.
``Their commitment to this is parallel to the State Plan which Intertwine is continually finding opportunities to implement.''
Ms Clayton said Intertwine employees would have high level involvement in all aspects of the service.
