Great Western will begin the most important five weeks of its Horsham District Football League season tomorrow when it hosts Edenhope-Apsley.
The Lions remain 12 points outside the top five as the home and away season draws to a close, but will fancy their chances in all five of their remaining matches.
They will also meet Rupanyup (fifth), Noradjuha-Quantong (fourth), Pimpinio (eighth) and Natimuk (sixth) in the run home to the finals, virtually needing victories in all of them to have any chance of progressing through to the finals.
Coach Sonny Walton, who is expected to miss the majority of these clashes with a thumb injury, said he still has faith in his side.
``We can do it, it just depends on how we gel with Dale Hurley back in the team,'' he said.
``We need every game, four (wins) won't be enough.''
Walton will be hoping his team can draw inspiration from Hurley's 200th game tomorrow after the gun onballer returned from an achilles injury last weekend against Kalkee.
``He had a good hitout last week and looked really good on the training track last night (Tuesday),'' Walton said.
Walton was also hopeful of regaining the services of Bobby Garley, who missed the clash with the Kees, but will remain without Nathan Shalders (hamstring) and possibly Marc Cook (shoulder). Luke Schuyler also missed last weekend and may return tomorrow. Sam Young, who has not played since round 12 against Laharum, will again miss through injury.
Paul Dalziel is expected to pull on the boots for his first senior game for some time, while the tribunal has suspended Nathan McConnell for two matches. McConnell, while running during last weekend's clash with Kalkee, was charged for his language towards an umpire
Walton said he hoped his team would improve on their dismal effort against Kalkee tomorrow after being pleased with the performances against both Harrow-Balmoral and Laharum.
Swifts will be without key player Jake Goodes for its important clash with Pimpinio tomorrow.
Goodes will miss the clash after hyper-extending his knee against Taylors Lake on Saturday. He will be joined by Nick Pickering (work) out of the side for tomorrow's clash.
Swifts team manager Robert Carey said tomorrow was the Baggies' last realistic chance of a victory this season with clashes against the top three teams after next week's bye.
``This is our main chance of a win I would think,'' he said.
``You have got to be realistic.
``I think we match up reasonably well against them.''
Carey said the coaching staff would look to Owen Phillips for the job on Tigers' coach Clint Burdett.
``If we can shut him down we think we are a bit of a chance.''
Mark StClair is likely to return to the team tomorrow, bolstering their big man stocks.
Pimpinio were 53 point winners over the Baggies earlier in the season, thanks largely to a 12 goals to one third term.
Taylors Lake welcome Natimuk to Dock Lake Reserve tomorrow in a match that could go either way, Noradjuha-Quantong will look to draw on the form that saw it draw with Laharum when it meets Harrow-Balmoral and Rupanyup take on the Mountain Men.
