Wimmera grand final Ararat bound

29/08/2008 10:31:00 AM
Wimmera Football League has confirmed the 2008 grand final will be played at Ararat.

With the Horsham City Oval out of contention because of the fact the Horsham Demons are expected to play in the grand final, the ground surface is below standard and an unsuitable netball court, the league was forced to look for a suitable grand final venue.

In the past it has been Dimboola and Warracknabeal who have hosted the bulk of the grand final action and the move to Ararat is seen as a bold move for the league.

After Nhill and Dimboola hosted the opening round of the finals series the league decided a look south.

Tomorrow's second semi finals will be played Horsham's Coughlan Park and Stawell's Central Park will host Sunday's first semi finals

The 2008 preliminary final will be played at Murtoa tomorrow week.

The 2008 grand final will be played on Saturday, September 13, a week earlier than it has been in past years.
