Terry and Karina O'Sullivan will be pleased with the Sydney Cup lead-up run by Tails Of Triomphe despite a warning from stewards in relation to bad barrier manners.
The six year-old was a clear last out of the gates, losing five lengths on the field in Saturday's Chairman's Handicap (2600 metres). However, in an encouraging effort made late ground to finish eighth, beaten just four lengths. This would obviously have left connections wondering what may have happened had he jumped with the field.
It was Tails Of Triomphe's first clockwise run before hopefully taking his place in the Sydney Cup (3200m) on Saturday. Tails Of Triomphe is not yet guaranteed a start in the $700,000 event.
